Environmental law

The “polluter pays” principle is the starting point of a system in which responsibility for a product does not end when it is placed on the market. Obligations in waste management depend on the type of product, and also on who places it on the Croatian market and in what way. We advise producers and importers and help them determine their position in the extended producer responsibility system (RPPO) and arrange the obligations connected with the management of special categories of waste, from registration and reporting to the payment of fees and the appointment of an authorised representative.

When questions of compliance arise in practice, we prepare the necessary documents and observations, conduct the communication with the competent authorities and represent clients in inspection and administrative proceedings.

We help clients identify and arrange the obligations that arise from their particular role, the product and the way the product is placed on the Croatian market.

Our services include:

  • determining the status of a producer and the applicable obligations
  • special categories of waste and extended producer responsibility
  • registration in the RPPO and keeping the prescribed records
  • reporting and the calculation and payment of fees

For foreign producers we can take on the role of authorised representative and be their local point of contact for meeting their obligations in Croatia.

Our services include:

  • role of the authorised representative (Authorised Representative)
  • communication with the Environmental Protection and Energy Efficiency Fund and other competent authorities
  • submission of data and fulfilment of reporting obligations
  • calculation and payment of the prescribed fees
  • coordination with the client’s internal teams and external service providers

We provide legal support in compliance checks and represent clients in communication and proceedings before the competent authorities.

Our services include:

  • review of compliance and regulatory risks
  • preparation of documents, observations and other submissions
  • communication with the competent authorities
  • representation in inspection and administrative proceedings
  • remedying established irregularities
  • adaptation of internal processes and documentation
